heh, dunno why, but I had a lot of thoughts on your post and thought I would share, willy nilly, of course.
Any chance you can ask for a fee reduction at the place you like. I know especially in this economy and some biz philosophies in general make allowance for some sliding scale fees. Especially if they see how interested you are in their work specific. Just a thought...

My AA work was better in school and worse out of school, something about the focus. And I know I was a derailed train when I got reassigned.
